All you need to know about our beamsplitter glass

The tiniest of differences have a huge impact – that’s why our beamsplitter glass is available with precise graduations in its level of transmission and reflection:

Key features of our 70/30 beamsplitter glass:

  • High light transmission of 70%
  • Low reflectivity of 30%
  • True-to-source color of reflected light
  • True-to-source color of transmitted light

Key features of our 50/50 beamsplitter glass:

  • Balance between 50% reflection and 50% transmission
  • True-to-source color of reflected light
  • True-to-source color of transmitted light

Customer specific beamsplitter variants are available upon request.

Applications

Beamsplitter glass is a popular design material for applications where a high level of light transmission is required and where a mirror effect is essential. The best-known example is the teleprompter, which reflects the text displayed by a monitor using a two-way mirror positioned in front of the camera lens. Thanks to the two-way mirror’s transparency, camera operation is not affected.

Dimensions

Beamsplitter glass is available in various thicknesses:

3–12 mm max. 1900 mm x 3005 mm

Reflexion

Our beamsplitter glass is available in a variety of reflective qualities from 50% to 70%. Choose from a transmission-reflection combination of 70/30 or 50/50.

Handling

Handle beamsplitter glass with care and store glass with its protective film still attached, in an area protected from sunlight. Damage can be avoided by keeping supports, layers and suction tools clean. During installation, remove any traces of sealants right away. It is essential that you keep other building material such as lime or cement away from glass surfaces, as these binders can harm the coating. If the glass does get dirty, wash away any spilled material with plenty of water and avoid rubbing the material, as dirt grains may scratch the glass.

Cleaning

To ensure your beamsplitter glass stays clear, it should be carefully and regularly cleaned. We recommend using a soft cotton cloth, or a sponge and plenty of water. If needed, non-abrasive, neutral detergents can also be added to the water.
